After a delicious lunch prepared by our loyal caterer, we are excited to be joined by Dr. Carol Higham, professor of History at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. Highly regarded by her students and pulling from a long and varied list of specialties, Dr. Higham will speak on the history of native peoples in the Charlotte area - including the Catawba and the Cherokee - and how that history has led to current conflicts and hidden histories. How gracious of Dr. Higham to come and share her knowledge with us and help us recognize and respect the culture, heritage, and accomplishments of our city's first inhabitants.
